Hello everyone, and thank you for your interest in my game. I hope that this works out and everyone has a great time. A little bit about myself, I'm a 28 year old Program Analyst/college student from Indiana. I've been role playing in chat rooms and mmo's since 1997. I played mostly freeform types of role playing and about two years ago I discovered the joys of d20 and other dice type games. I love to write and aspire to one day finally finish the novel I've been working on. I believe writing in these games allows us to get a feel and experience a better story while role playing that speaking through a mic can not convey. I hope that you all feel the same way and that we can create some awesome here. These games might be slow, and patient might be required at some point, but I hope it flows nicely and we enjoy our time.
That's a little about me and the game, now who's next? Who'd like to introduce themselves first or ask a question?

Hey guys. I'm Andrew, a 28 year-old New Yorker. I've always loved RPG video games but I only recently picked up pen and paper role-playing again after running a game for some D&D-curious friends. It was the first time playing since childhood and I had forgotten how much fun it could be. And much more engaging for the imagination than most video games. I've never tried text based games but I love to read and write. Looking forward to playing with you all.

Hi,
Its been a while since I've done text only, like mid 2000's, but it was my favorite, much more RP and interaction than anything involving live voice, and I'm excited about it. I've been RPing since I was knee high to a grasshopper, and I occasionally play MMO's and the like as well.

Hello, I'm Adam. I've never played a text game like this although I have played text games before. I'd love to play but have no idea where to start. I've played a little of D&D 4th.

Hey now,
I've been an rpg addict for as long as I can remember, and D&D by far the most fun.
I'm a 28 yr old medical student in Georgia. I love pretty much every aspect of D&D, from flowery roleplaying on down to white trash hack n' slash and all points in between. For the last 5-10 years I've had a difficult time finding groups to play with in person for traditional pen n paper games and have just recently taken another look at online solutions.
The promise of text-only format brought waves of early 2000's nostalgia flooding over me...the good kind, not so much stuff like LiveJournal, emo music, and boost mobile. A more elegant campaign for a more civilized age.
If you read my character background, you know that I enjoy foolishness, a light-hearted approach, and semicolons; the game is always better when people bring a sense of humor.
A good attitude & a functional imagination are your best tools, that's what makes this game timeless and awesome.
Let's do it,
Matthew

Hiya, I'm 19 and absolutely obsessed with D&D.
I'm an Engineering student in Virginia, and D&D has been a getaway for me for 2 years now. Playing flawed and magical characters is something I enjoy, because while it creates struggle and therefore a worthwhile character, I get MAGIC, which, sadly enough, doesn't exist in the real world. I've an imagination that has me constantly making up worlds and characters, and I've read fantasay/sci fi books for as long as I remember. I'm a budding medieval weapon enthusiast, and hope to accumulate a collection in the course of the next several years.
During a text-only one shot on Roll20 about a year ago, I found out text-based adventures were tremendous amounts of fun, with immersion hard to break, and the ability to flesh out any description with thought and deliberation. Ever since I've been looking for a text-based game, and with the release of 5e, I've been itching to try out a warlock.
I play in favor of teamwork, and love to retell epic tales with party members who were there.
I hope you deem me worthy for this campaign, and I look forward to playing with the others applying.

Hi guys!
I'm Elizabeth, 27, from California but currently in Texas. My husband is a professor, and I am now mostly a housewife, although I do still teach Latin and Greek on occasion! I'm also a yoga and fitness instructor.
I have been playing D&D since I was, oh, 14 or 15. I started with 2nd Edition but soon moved to 3rd. Usually I play D&D in person with my husband (he's the DM!) and our friends, and we have games every week. Years ago, I played D&D online now and then---on old mIRC, D&D chatrooms, MapTools, OpenRPG, etc.---and always through text. Although sometimes I miss the in-person interaction, I love playing through text. Text-based D&D feels less like the standard tabletop game, in which roleplaying is sometimes minimized, and more like writing a shared story. Since I enjoy writing for fun and really love to immerse myself in roleplaying, text-based games have been a passion of mine.
Unfortunately, as I'm sure all of you know, the here-and-there of daily life often intervenes and prevents gaming, and I haven't been able to play an online text-based game for a long time. Recently, though, my Sunday nights have become pretty open. My husband's working schedule on the weekend has become crazy due to his current research, so he is usually resting by Sunday afternoon which means I have the afternoon open. I decided to use my time wisely (of course) and try to find a new text-based game to play online during those late hours.
I had heard about roll20, but was skeptical that I'd find anything there because I knew many players preferred using video chat for gaming rather than old-fashioned writing. But lo and behold, this campaign was like the 3rd one down on the list when I joined today and searched for a game, and this was a text-based game, and this was starting on my Sunday time slot, and this hadn't actually begun yet. Wow! It was meant to be! I couldn't believe my luck, so I messaged Corey to make sure that I wasn't reading something incorrectly. Maybe I should go buy a lottery ticket? If I win, I'll share it all with you guys!

Hi, I'm Mike. I saw the Roll20 posting a few days ago but I guess I didn't get my character done in time. Anyway I wanted to stop by and introduce myself in case there are any openings in the future. I've been playing D&D in one form or another since the 1980s, which makes me kind of old. Most recent experiences is with 3.5 and Pathfinder, I haven't tried 5th edition yet but like what I see so far. I work a lot, and don't know a lot of local players, so Roll20 is a good resource for me to use. I prefer text-based games because they allow for more expression, and I find talking on a headset all night just sort of awkward. Anyhow, I do have a character more or less done now, so if any openings come up let me know. Thanks!
